The Basque coast’s chic city beach receives less swell than Anglet, but handles a very large variety of conditions. Rocks on the south part of the beach contribute to the beauty of the site while shaping the banks and blocking S-SW winds. Sometimes the fat rolling peaks are fun and easy, other times they are sucky and close-out.

Beginners will do better at Cote des Basques. On the downside, crowds, bathing zone restrictions and difficult, expensive car parking spoil the experience, unless you surf at night under the boardwalk lights!
