Guajataca surf guide
Surf: General: A super-wide, semi-protected beachbreak -- both rarities along this stretch of coast - this is a flat, packed sand beach, so it has an annoying tendency to close out a bit more often than you'd like. When the waves get really big from the NW, there is a giant left that breaks in front of the tunnel and spins into the beach. Serious stuff, but very rare.
Tides: Not the biggest tidal changes but lower generally better.
Size: Chest high-overhead
Wind: South
Swell: NNW, N, NNE, NE
Bottom: Sand
Paddling: Depends on the size of the surf.
Spot Rating: Not great as it tends to close out on most swells but it is somewhat protected from the trade winds.
Access: Park right there.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: Pretty spread out.
Local Vibe: Not too bad.
Environment: Not bad.
Hazards: Not much.
Season: Late summer and fall for tropical cyclone swells but late fall through early spring for consistency.
