Hastings is a surf spot located on the South Coast, just east of Brandon's. It's known for its trade swell that can offer some decent surf from time to time. The vibes here are pretty mellow, making it a good place for all levels of surfers. You’ll find a mix of sand and rocky areas at the bottom, and access is straightforward; just drive through Oistins, make a couple of turns, and you’re there.
The surf at Hastings mainly produces lefts, which are often more forgiving for beginners and longboarders. When conditions are right, it can handle swell sizes from around 2ft to 6ft (about 0.6m to 1.8m). The spot works best during low to mid tides, but you can surf it at any tide. On normal trade wind days, expect it to be offshore, keeping the waves clean. While it’s a decent spot for beginners, intermediate surfers will also find some fun waves when the swell picks up.
This area tends to get crowded with a lot of beginners and surf schools, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a quieter session. Hazards aren’t really an issue here, making it a nice, easy spot to enjoy a day out on the water. Hastings is particularly good in summer for tropical cyclone swells and also sees some decent waves in autumn and winter, thanks to the trade swells.
