Horace Caldwell Pier surf guide
Surf: In Port Aransas, the Horace Caldwell Pier peaks up on either side depending on swell direction, sandbanks and tide levels. Best on a E-SE swell at mid tide.
Environment: Pretty consistent spot with crowds sometimes a factor but there are lots of options around here.

Paddling: The rip by the pier makes it easy to get out, but expect to paddle against the current to stay in position.
Spot Rating: Best longboard wave in the state on its days.
Access: Easy, free parking at the pier.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: Dense lineup at the best peaks when there is swell, spread out the farther from the pier you get.
Local Vibe: Relatively positive. Be cool and keep it that way.
Environment: Relatively clean.
Hazards: Unskilled surfers in line-up.
