Huntington Cliffs surf guide

Huntington Cliffs is a popular surf spot located along the Pacific Coast Highway. It's known for its beachbreak waves, making it a great place for surfers of various skill levels. While it generally offers better conditions than some of the beaches to the north, it can often be a bit mushy and forgiving, which is perfect for beginners looking to catch some waves without too much hassle. The vibe here is laid-back, and you'll usually find plenty of company in the water.

The surf works best with a low tide and is most optimal with W-SW swells. With the right conditions, the waves can get decent, breaking over sand and offering both left and right rides. South and Northwest swells are welcome here, handling sizes around 1 ft. (0.3 m) well. If you’re planning your session, keep in mind that the preferable wind direction is Northeast, which can help clean up the surf and make for a more enjoyable ride.

The environment around Huntington Cliffs provides limited metered parking along the highway, so be prepared to find a spot before heading down to the surf. With lots of room in the surf area, it's a fun place to practice your skills while enjoying the company of fellow surfers.
