Hoek van Holland Boulevard surf guide

Hoek van Holland Boulevard is located on the north side of the entrance to the Europoort. It's a decent spot with a sandy beach break that can offer some fun waves, especially when the conditions align. This place can get busy, particularly during the summer months, so be prepared for some company in the water. Pay parking is available, but keep in mind it can fill up quickly during peak season.

The best time to surf here is with Northwest swells, as the break works well when the waves come from that direction. It can also handle swells from the West and North, with optimal wave heights around 1 to 2 feet (0.3 to 0.6 meters). The breaks here generally favor the left-hand side and are more powerful than your typical Dutch beach break. The waves are usually best at low, mid, or high tide, although many surfers find high tide to be particularly good. For wind, Southeast is the way to go. This spot is suitable for beginners, making it a good place to practice and improve your skills.

As a beach break, the waves form over sand, which can make it a bit more forgiving for less experienced surfers. Since the long jetty blocks swells coming from the southwest, you may find that the best days are when northwest conditions are prevalent. So, keep an eye on the forecast and enjoy the surf!
