Igueste de San Andres is a surf spot located on the northeast coast of Tenerife. It can get pretty popular, especially when the conditions are right, so don’t be surprised if you find a crowd. This beach is not known for being consistent, so it might be a wait for those perfect waves. When it does work, it’s a fun place to catch some surf, primarily offering a mix of rocky and sandy breaks.
This spot handles the big NE swells well, producing long, hollow left point breaks. The optimal swell direction is from the Northeast, but it can also work with swells from the North and Southeast. It’s best suited for intermediate surfers, and it can handle swell sizes as low as 2 feet (0.6 meters). The waves typically break over boulders and the sand, with preferred conditions being on low to mid and high tides. For wind, it fares well with a north direction, which is good because NW winds can mess up many surf spots in the area.
Since the surf can get crowded, especially on good days, it’s a good idea to arrive early to snag your spot. Keep an eye out for the strong currents, as they can be a challenge. If you're heading this way, start at Playa del Llano, which is the easiest access point to the beach.
