Il Sasso is a surf spot located in a steep bay near Sirolo. The access involves a long walk down a trail that can get muddy, so be prepared for that before you hit the waves. The wave breaks just in front of a restaurant called Da Silvio, making it a nice landmark. This spot is worth checking out, especially when nearby Portonovo is not producing enough swell.
The surf here mainly works with southeast and east swells, catching waves best when there's little to no wind. It offers a mix of left and right breaking waves, and you can expect the swell to handle heights up to about 0.6 meters (2 ft). The wave breaks over a rock ledge, and the best conditions usually hit during low to mid or even high tide. This spot is generally suited for intermediate surfers looking for a challenging ride.
During the summer, Il Sasso can get pretty crowded, so plan your sessions early in the morning or during less busy times to enjoy the waves. If you're aiming to catch some fun surf, keep an eye on the swell direction, especially from the southeast, as that’s when the waves really come alive.
