Indicators surf guide

Indicators is a surf spot located a little further down the coast that attracts experienced surfers. It's a rugged stretch of shallow reef, which can be punishing but is less crowded compared to nearby spots like The Point or Marias. Here, you’ll find a more laid-back vibe and the chance to catch some decent waves without having to battle the crowds.

This spot is best for expert surfers who are willing to tackle the uneven reef where the waves break. The optimal swell direction comes from the north, but it also handles northwest and northeast swells well. It's got a tendency to break at around 4ft (about 1.2 meters), which can really challenge your skills. The waves tend to break right, making it important to have a good handle on your paddling and positioning. For the best conditions, a southeast wind is preferred, and the waves can work at any tide – low, mid, or high.

While Indicators might be a hassle for those not up to par, it's a great place for those who are experienced and know how to navigate the rocky terrain. Keep an eye out for urchins and be prepared for some tough paddle-outs, but if you're feeling confident, this spot can offer some solid rides.
