Injou is a sheltered surf spot located near the Masuda Space Launch site, set against the backdrop of a large golf course. It’s a pretty beach that offers decent options for surfers looking for a more relaxed vibe. The area gets its fair share of visitors, but it's not always crowded, making it a good choice for those looking to catch some waves without the hassle.
The surf here is usually a long, right-hand wall, but when the swell is big from the east, it can break left as well. Injou handles swell sizes up to about 3 feet (0.9 meters) and works best with an east swell direction, although it can also accept northeast and southeast swells. The waves break over boulders and sand, with reef waves often making an appearance. For optimal conditions, it’s best to surf when the wind is coming from the west and during mid to high tide. This spot is most suitable for intermediate surfers due to its varying wave conditions.
Keep in mind that the inside section can be quite shallow and rocky, so watch your step while paddling in. The waves are generally glassy around here, especially since it’s sheltered from S round to NW winds. This makes Injou a fun place to grab a few waves when the conditions align.
