Inland Sea surf guide

The Inland Sea is a unique surf spot located in Gozo, offering a chill vibe compared to Malta. This spot features a semi-circular pond about 100 meters wide, which usually looks pretty calm like a lake. It's surrounded by impressive cliffs, with a 60-meter high wall where fishing boats can pass through a small opening. While it may seem quiet most of the time, it can come alive when the right conditions hit.

When the Northwest or West storms roll in, the Inland Sea turns into a small wave pool. On those days, you can find knee-high waves breaking over the uneven reef, creating left and right rides. The optimal swell direction is Northwest, but it can also handle swells coming from the North. It's good for all levels, especially beginners, but you'll want to time your session right. The best tides are low to mid, and the wind should ideally be coming from the Southeast to help shape those waves. Just keep in mind that you’ll need a decent swell size of at least 1 foot (about 0.3 meters) for things to really kick off.

This spot is perfect for longboarding when conditions are on point, so be sure to check the surf reports before heading out. The combination of the natural formations and the swell creates a fun surfing environment, but it's definitely a hit-or-miss situation. Luck plays a part, so come prepared and ready to ride if the waves are up!
