Irno surf guide

Irno is a surf spot located in the center of Salerno, where the Irno River meets the sea. It’s known for being quite crowded, especially during the summer months when surfers flock to enjoy the waves. The spot can get pretty busy, so be prepared to share the lineup with other surfers looking to catch some rides.

The waves at Irno are predominantly long, easy righthanders that work best with NorthWest and South swells. The optimal swell direction comes from the NorthWest, and the spot can handle swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters). This makes it a suitable place for beginners to practice their skills, as the waves are generally forgiving. Conditions are best when the tide is low to mid, and the wind should ideally come from the NorthWest. If there's an onshore wind, it’s often not worth paddling out.

When you're planning your surf session, keep in mind that the water gets pretty busy, which can be a bit overwhelming for some. It's also worth noting that this spot mainly breaks over sand, so it's usually a softer landing if you happen to wipe out. If you're in the area, check it out, but be ready for a lively atmosphere with plenty of other surfers around.
