Overview
Jackson Creek is an excellent left-hand reef that breaks over live coral, tucked inside a large shielding headland. The headland offers safe anchorage, while the reef along its fringe sits fully open to wind and swell.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), and a west swell is the best match. It needs a decent swell to wrap around the headland, which keeps it somewhat inconsistent. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
You want winds from the east to south to keep it offshore, with southeast the cleanest direction. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup stays quiet. Just come prepared for the mosquitoes, which are relentless here.
