Jenness Beach surf guide
Surf: Predominately a longboard spot, Jenness holds all swell directions and tides. Average peaks, best on a mid to incoming tide.
Access: Free in winter only
Environment: Designated surfing beach. Fee to pay car park in summer with full facilities. Sometimes crowded in the unpolluted line-up.
Surf: General: Jenness Beach is a generally average beachbreak that offers a peaky, soft, mellow, quiet, meditative surfing experience. Jenness will accommodate a variety of swells and break on all tides, but in general, E swells and mid-tides are ideal.
Tides: It tends to be best on incoming.
Size: Knee-high to a few feet overhead.
Wind: W, NW
Swell: NE, SE
Bottom: Sand with random rocks.
Paddling: 5-mil neoprene is heavy when it’s wet.
Spot Rating: We’re all in this together — except you, whippersnapper!
Access: Metered parking is available for 67 cars.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: One longboarder equals 10 shortboarders — and longboarders love this place.
Local Vibe: A party wave is nothing more than a passive-aggressive burn.
Environment: If this water was any clearer, you’d swear it was one big contact lens. Historically passed water quality tests at least 95% of the time.
Hazards: Sharks, hypothermia, rocks.
