Jetties sits about 15 km (9 mi) west of Ash Shir, near a village marked by huge circular oil storage tanks and three jetties. Waves peel both left and right over a sandy bottom, and the inside offers sheltered surf when it turns stormy and big.
When It Works
It draws swell from southwest through north to northeast, with southwest swell the best match. The break is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves stay mellow enough to suit beginners.
Access
Getting here is the real obstacle. The installation is out of bounds to everyone and heavily patrolled by army tanks and jeeps to guard against attacks, and parking nearby is restricted.
