Kalesi Reef is a surf spot located south and east from Sinop along the north-facing coastline of the Black Sea. This area is known for collecting the most swell in the region, making it a decent choice for surfers looking to catch some waves. The scenery is pretty nice, and you can often find fellow surfers enjoying the water.
The lefts at Kalesi Reef can be quite consistent, especially when the swell is at its best. For optimal conditions, you're looking at a NorthWest swell direction, but it can also handle swells coming from the NorthEast. The reef breaks over rocky ledges and can work well with swell sizes starting at about 0.6 meters (2 feet). The waves here are primarily lefts and are best ridden by intermediate surfers. If you want the best experience, aim for days when the wind is coming from the SouthEast and the tide is at low, mid, or high.
This spot is known for its scattered peaks on the outer reefs, so you might need to search a bit for the best waves. The focus is really on the lefts, but sometimes you can find other sections working as well. So keep an eye out and enjoy your time at Kalesi Reef!
