Kalim surf guide

Kalim is a surf spot located on the island of Phuket. It's known for being one of the better breaks when the surf is too big at other spots. The wave here is a righthand reef break that rolls over shallow coral, and if you're lucky, you might even catch an occasional left. The ride is typically around 50-100 meters (165-330 feet) long, but be cautious as it gets quite shallow towards the end. The vibe in the lineup tends to be friendly, even when it gets a bit crowded. Mid incoming tide often offers the best conditions.

This spot is best suited for experienced surfers. The optimal swell direction is from the Southwest, but it can also handle swells from the West. Kalim works well with swell sizes starting at 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and can break over dead coral. You can find both left and right waves here, making it a good spot for varied rides. East is the preferable wind direction, and the tide can be low, mid, or high, so there's some flexibility in when you decide to hit the waves.

Keep in mind that this spot is more fitting for expert surfers, so if you're still getting the hang of things, it might be worth waiting until you're a bit more comfortable on your board. Enjoy the surf!
