Kamikazes is a surf spot that has its own unique vibe. Located along a stretch of reef, it’s not the easiest place to catch waves unless you know what you're doing. The best time to hit it is around mid to high tide, which gives you the best chance to score decent rides. This spot sees its fair share of surfers, which can make the lineup a bit competitive, so be ready to share the waves.
This spot is known for a tricky lefthander that can sometimes turn into a straighthander if the swell direction isn’t just right. It works best with south and southwest swells, and it handles swell sizes of around 3 feet (about 1 meter). If the conditions line up perfectly, you might find some deep barrels that will really test your skills, so be prepared to put your skills to the test. For the best experience, aim to surf when the wind is coming from the southeast.
It’s important to note that Kamikazes isn’t for beginners. This place is better suited for expert surfers who can handle more challenging conditions. If you're up for it and have the skill, you'll find some rewarding waves here—just make sure you've got the right gear, as you might want to use a bit of rubber for those cooler sessions.
