North of Kapaa, the Kuhio Hwy skirts a golden sand bay that is usually a mess of onshore peaks, churning the sand. Even in the E trades, Kealia’s small, powerful waves can be a fun session and when the wind switches off or flips W, then punchy barrels will pop up, especially at the north end. Lefts predominate in N swells and rights in S, separated by rip channels.
