Kidd's Beach is located about 35 km south of town and is known as a popular holiday resort. It's mainly a beach spot that's alright for surfing, especially if you're looking for a place to relax and catch some waves. It’s best suited for smaller days, making it a decent choice when the swell is manageable.
The surf here mainly works on small to mid-sized south swells, with optimal directions coming from the South. You can find waves breaking over sand, and they can handle sizes starting from just 1 ft (0.3 m). Surfers can enjoy both left and right waves, which is nice for mixing things up. The best wind conditions are from the west, and you'll find that it works in all tide heights: low, mid, and high. It’s a good spot for beginners to get a feel for the ocean without overwhelming conditions.
Kidd's Beach doesn’t really offer much in the way of a point break, so most of the surfing experience revolves around the beach break. It’s a fun place for novices to practice and get comfortable on the board. Just remember to check the conditions before heading out, as it’s not the most consistent spot.
