King Kong Left surf guide

King Kong Left is located near Kadavu Island, which means you'll need to book an extra flight to get there. This spot is known for its crowd-free line-ups, making it a great place to get away from the busy surf spots. The accessible beach break can be reached easily after a short boat ride from the private resort on Nagigia Island. The wave here is special, as it hits a notch in the fringing reef, creating a unique and fun surf experience.

The wave at King Kong Left breaks left over live coral and handles swell sizes starting from 2ft (0.6m) up to about 8ft (2.5m). The best conditions come when the optimal swell direction is from the southwest, with secondary swells from the southeast. It can deliver quick barrels that open up before backing off, and then pitch again on the shallow inside. A northeast wind works best here, and you can surf during low, mid, and high tide, although it's more suitable for intermediate surfers.

This spot offers consistent surf and can throw some wild tubes when the swell gets bigger. The vibe is chill, and since it’s not heavily crowded, you can enjoy more time on the wave. Just be aware of the need for some experience due to the reef and changing conditions.
