Kudaka is a surf spot located about an hour's ferry ride from Baten Harbour. It's a small island with a unique vibe that attracts surfers looking for something a bit different. The main surf area features a long left point break right next to a seawall and a small marina. While it might not be the most famous spot, it has its own charm and can definitely deliver some fun waves when the conditions are right.
This spot works best with northeast swells, which are optimal for producing good waves. It can handle swell sizes starting from 2 feet (around 0.6 meters) and up. When it gets going, you can expect a mix of reef breaks that offer multiple sections along the wave. The lefts can link up nicely when the conditions are ideal, especially during those bigger northeast swells. For a smoother ride, it's good to surf during mid to high tide, and if the wind is coming from the northwest, you’ll find the waves are more favorable. This spot is best suited for intermediate surfers who know how to navigate the reef.
While Kudaka may not break as consistently as some of the more popular spots like Ikei, it usually catches most east swells. It’s worth spending a whole day here, especially if you want to enjoy the local vibe. Don't forget to check out the local 'soba' house, which is known for serving up some tasty hot meals after a long surf session.
