L’Hemitage Beach surf guide

L’Hemitage Beach is located in southern Haiti and is known for its stunning coastline surrounding Cap Raymond and Bainet. The beach is accessible by 4WD off-road from Jacmel or via an inland paved road from Bainet. Keep in mind that getting to the beach can be tricky due to the clifftop access, so it’s a good idea to find a local guide to help you navigate the way safely.

The surf here is quite powerful and is ideal for expert surfers. The optimal swell direction is Southeast, but it also works with swells coming from the East and South. The beach can handle swell sizes starting from 2ft (about 0.6 meters) and breaks over boulders, creating long, performance left waves. The wave direction is predominantly left, and the best time to surf is during low, mid, or high tide. It’s worth noting that this spot can pick up a lot of energy from outside set waves, so be ready for some strong conditions, especially when the afternoon onshore winds kick in.

When you plan your session, keep in mind that the preferable wind direction is from the North. The beach’s unique setup makes it a great place to enjoy some solid lefts, especially if you’re looking for a spot that delivers good waves with the right swell. Overall, L’Hemitage Beach can be a great choice for experienced surfers looking to catch some powerful waves.
