More about 'L' Jetty surfspot
A generally softer wave that needs SE or E swell up to overhead to produce rights breaking in front of the L part. No room for error at this wobbly, backwashy, low tide spot.
General: Avon has an L-shaped jetty that is called the L Jetty. Not to be confused with the L Jetty in Deal, it takes a S swell to break and is heavily affected by the tides. It's a great place to be just when a swell starts to hit, as it seems that all the key elements have to be in place for it to go off. Likewise, when some key elements start overriding other key elements, L Jetty becomes not such a great place to be. There are other jetties in Avon, as well as the random sandbar here and there that might be good one week and total crap the next. Tides: Low-mid generally best Size: Waist high-well overhead Wind: W Swell: S, SSE, SE, ESE, E Bottom: Sand Paddling: Doable, can be tough on big days. Spot Rating: Key spots get pretty good at times.
