More about La Cupula surfspot

General: La Cupula, a nice left-hander, is situated about one mile outside of the city of Antofagasta, the copper mining capital of Chile. This relatively constant left breaks over a rock and sand shelf very close to shore. When it's really firing it offers nice, hollow, barreling tubes and leaves plenty of room for creative surfing. It starts breaking at about three feet and can handle up to ten feet.

The entry is quite easy. Just paddle straight toward the point from the small parking lot and duck dive your way through. Due to the presence of a quality bodyboarding wave nearby, this spot will usually be relatively uncrowded. Tides: Low tide filling up Size: Slight overhead-double overhead Wind: W Swell: S, SSW Bottom: Sand and rocks Paddling: Not bad on the average day but can be some work when it's pumping. Spot Rating: Can get good when it's on, and is pretty consistent even when it's not.
