La Isla surf guide

La Isla is a surf spot located at the tip of Punta Hermosa, known for its high-quality righthand reef break. This spot can deliver some solid sessions, especially during the surfing season from March to September. Access is pretty simple, making it easy for surfers to hit the waves. Just keep in mind that it can get really crowded when the swell is good, so be prepared for some company out there.

The waves here can range from head high to triple overhead (about 1 to 3 meters) and are mostly consistent, handling swell sizes from 3ft up to 10ft (1 to 3 meters). You’ll find both right and left waves, but the rights tend to be faster with thin lips, while the lefts can be a bit on the weaker side. The bottom is a bit tricky with urchin-crusted rocks, so watch your step. Ideal swells come from the South, South-Southwest, Southwest, West-Southwest, and West, while the best wind directions are from the North, North-North-East, Northeast, East-North-East, East, and East-South-East. It's a good spot for intermediate to expert surfers, and you'll see a variety of board types, from shortboards to longboards.

While the local vibe can get a bit edgy, most of the time it’s pretty chill. Just remember to keep an eye on the ocean and avoid turning your back to the waves. Enjoy the clean environment, but stay sharp and ready for some decent sets!
