La Preciosa surf guide

La Preciosa is a surf spot that offers a decent wave for those looking to catch some action. It’s located a bit around the corner, requiring a longer paddle due to the sweeping current. This spot tends to be less crowded compared to nearby Encuentro, making it a nice alternative for surfers wanting to enjoy a session without the hustle and bustle. You can expect to find a consistent surfing experience, especially during the winter months when conditions are usually a bit better.

The waves here tend to work best with a north or northeast swell and are ideal when they hit around 4 feet (1.2 meters). The break happens over an uneven reef, producing both left and right waves. If you’re planning to surf here, try to aim for mid to high tide for the best conditions. For the optimal experience, a south-east wind helps keep the waves nice. It’s recommended for intermediate surfers; so if you’re comfortable on your board, you should have a good time.

While La Preciosa can get really good, it does need a bit more size than Encuentro to reach its peak potential. Keep an eye on the swell; when it hits right, you might just find yourself riding some picture-perfect waves without the crowd. Don't forget to check the tide before you head out, as it plays a big role in making sure you catch the best waves possible.
