La Sarga surf guide
Surf: La Sarga sits at the tip of the promontory facing due S, so only bigger swells will wrap enough. Sand piles up into a perfect long bar, allowing rights to spin off with a bit more speed, power and occasional hollowness. It can be short sections or link up for longer rides and benefits from full NW wind protection. Better at low and suffers from some currents so walking back up beach is often easier.
Environment: Scruffy fishing community but it's the army base on the point that is the problem as they can deny access at times. The place to be in a big NW swell so it can get a bit of a crowd, albeit spread out down the beach. Dakhla is the main city of the Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira region plus it’s one of the main fishing harbours. Dakhla’s unique 37km (23mi) long bay, became the crossroads of kitesurfers from Europe in 2003 and it’s been attracting surf-casters for decades, catching giant 45kg/100 pound sea bass!
