Lago do Linho is a surf spot located at the eastern flank of Faja da Caldeira do Santo Cristo. This place is a bit of a trek to get to, requiring you to walk about 50 minutes from Cubres or catch a quad bike taxi, which can get you there in just 10 minutes. The scenery is pretty cool once you arrive, but keep in mind that the access can be challenging at times, especially when the waves get bigger.
The surf here is known for its long, powerful lefts that work best with a solid swell, especially from the NorthWest. It can handle swell sizes up to about 4ft (1.2 meters) and breaks over boulders, which adds a bit of excitement. Generally, the best conditions happen when the wind comes from the SouthWest. You’ve got steep take-offs at the peak, but if you’re an intermediate surfer, you can find more shoulder towards the outside. When the waves are smaller, it turns into a bit of a rock slalom, so be mindful of your surroundings and the rocks.
Getting in and out of the water can be tough, especially when the size picks up. Strong currents can push down the point, and there are also urchins to watch out for, so be careful. If you're keen for a bit of a challenge, Lago do Linho definitely delivers, but make sure you’ve got the right conditions for your skill level.
