Lahinch - Left is a popular surf spot located at the south end of Lahinch Beach. It's known for its fun left reef break that can stretch over 300 meters. The spot is frequented by both locals and intermediate surfers. While it's enjoyable when the conditions are right, it’s not exactly a year-round go-to since it doesn't work as often as the beach breaks.
This left-hand wave works best with swells from the southwest and northwest, handling sizes from about 3ft to 6ft (1m to 2m). The wave typically breaks over a rock ledge and is surfable on all tides when the swell is big, but it has its sweet spot at low tide, especially when the swell is smaller. Expect tapering walls with a bit of vertical and shoulder, and ideal conditions with east winds. This spot suits intermediate surfers, so not the best if you’re just starting out.
Access to Lahinch - Left is easy, with parking available above the reef or at the beach carpark. Just keep in mind that it can get crowded, especially on weekends and during the summer months, when tourists and surf lessons fill the area. It’s essential to talk to the lifeguards before hitting the water, especially since the backwash and strong rips can create hazardous conditions at higher tides. If you want to ride this wave, bringing a fish, funboard, or longboard is usually best.
