Laida surf guide

Laida Surf Spot is located right across the river from Mundaka. It's a good option if you're looking for a less crowded place to surf, especially when the waves are smaller. This beachbreak is pretty average, so don't expect anything super special, but it can be a fun alternative on days when Mundaka or Laga are too busy or the waves aren't great. It's known to be moderately consistent, which is appealing for many surfers.

The waves at Laida work best with a northwest swell and can handle sizes around 2ft (0.6m). The beach produces both left and right waves, making it suitable for different riding styles. You’ll want to catch it at low or mid tide for the best experience. This spot is friendly for beginners, offering an easier wave compared to some more challenging surf areas, so it’s a good spot to practice your skills.

Laida attracts a mix of beachgoers during the summer, especially from Gernika, so expect some company on the sand. You can access it easily from Mundaka by paddling across the river, or you can take a small boat in summer. There's also a car park on the Gernika side if you're driving. Plus, there's camping nearby at Mundaka if you want to stay close to the waves.
