Las Bajas surf guide

Las Bajas is a surf spot located in the bay of Famara. It's known for its rough waters and challenging conditions, making it suitable only for experienced surfers. The area is marked by a set of rocks that sit around 200 meters out to sea, and this is where the action happens when the swell comes in. This spot can produce some intense waves, so if you're looking for something thrilling, you might find it here.

The waves at Las Bajas are mainly best with a northwest swell direction, but they also handle swells coming from the west and north. You can expect the waves to really kick in when the swell size hits around 6 feet (about 1.8 meters). The wave breaks over an uneven reef, and you'll find both left and right options. For the best results, try to catch them when the wind is coming from the southeast, and you'll have a better experience no matter the tide—low, mid, or high can all work out.

This spot is definitely for experts only, so make sure you know what you're doing if you decide to paddle out. The waves can get powerful here, which is part of what makes it so interesting for serious surfers looking for a challenge.
