Le Lizay is a surf spot located at Plage du Lizay. It's known for its powerful waves that can be challenging but rewarding. The area can handle swell sizes from 2ft (about 0.6 meters) and has a mix of left and right breaks. It’s particularly suited for expert surfers who are looking for a bit of a thrill.
The wave breaks over an uneven reef, which can create some exciting conditions, especially when the swell comes from the west or northwest. At higher tides, it offers a shorter, softer right, but the left can really show its true potential when the swell is right. The best times to surf here are during mid to high tides, and the ideal wind direction is southeast.
Keep in mind that if the conditions are too big and onshore, you might want to check out Rivedoux, which is located in the southeast corner of the island. So, while Le Lizay can serve up some great waves, be prepared for the conditions and know when to switch it up if things are too chaotic.
