Leblon surf guide

Leblon is a well-known surf spot located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It sits between Ipanema and Arpoador, attracting both locals and tourists. The beach is lively and gets pretty crowded, especially during peak hours. While it may not be the top destination for serious surfers, it has a mix of waves that can appeal to different skill levels.

The surf at Leblon can manage sizes up to about 3.6 meters (12 ft) when the swells come from the south. You'll find solid rights at the pointbreak, which can be fun but also a bit challenging. The beach breaks offer dumpy, sucky peaks that run along the shore, and they do tend to vary depending on the tide. For the best experience, aim for low to mid tide; the waves can be more consistent then. Besides the rights, you can also ride some lefts, making it a decent spot for a bit of variety. It's important to note that this place works best with northwesterly winds, which help keep the surf clean. 

Even though it's not a world-class surf destination, Leblon can still be enjoyable, especially for intermediate surfers looking to mix it up. When the conditions align, it's possible to catch some decent rides here. Just be ready for a bit of competition in the water, as this spot tends to get crowded.
