Lefthanders surf guide

Lefthanders is a well-known surf spot located in the Margaret River area. It's famous for its consistency and is often a go-to for local surfers looking for quality waves. The spot tends to really come alive with just a little pulse of SW or W swell, drawing in a variety of surfers looking to get their fix. Though it can get crowded at times, the waves here generally deliver a solid performance.

This spot handles swell sizes starting from around 2ft (about 0.6 meters) and can really ramp up as the swell grows. The waves break over an uneven reef, producing left-handers that provide some nice barrelling sections. Aiming for an east wind and riding the waves at mid to high tide tends to offer the best conditions. Lefthanders can be a critical drop when the swell is overhead, making it more suitable for expert surfers. If you're adventurous, there are also some beach breaks along the walk down, but keep in mind the quality can be hit or miss.

Despite its stunning location, there's a history to Lefthanders that might give some surfers pause. It's known for being a bit isolated, which means fewer surfers often hit the water, but the waves that break here can more than outweigh the risks involved. Just remember that it's a spot that requires skill and respect for the ocean.
