Les Anglais is a surf spot located on the southern coast of Haiti. It's known for its unique setting at the mouth of a river and offers a more rustic vibe than other locations. There are currently no hotels in the area, so most visitors will need to plan for a long day trip from Port Salut or take a shorter journey from Tiburon. The scenery might feel a bit worn down, but it gives the place character.
This spot is best for lefts, mostly breaking over boulders. It handles swells from about 1 ft (0.3 m) up, and the ideal swell direction is Southeast. You can also catch waves coming from the East and South. For a good ride, the waves work well during low to mid tide, and the best wind is from the North. When conditions align, expect some fun, longer rides, especially with swells that have a period over 7 seconds. Though it’s not always pumping, when it’s on, it can offer a solid experience for intermediate surfers.
To get to Les Anglais, head to the boulder rivermouth just east of the spot to access the top of the point. The area offers some solitude, as you won't usually find big crowds here. Overall, it can be a chill spot for those looking to enjoy some waves without the hustle and bustle of more popular surf areas.
