Les Cul Nuls is a surf spot that serves as a link between the more typical beach breaks to the north and the heavier shore breaks of La Graviere. The beach has a steeper angle, which often makes for better waves at mid to high tides when the swell is moderate. It's a spot where surfers can find some powerful action close to the shore, especially when the conditions align just right.
This place is known to handle swell sizes starting from around 2ft (about 0.6 meters) and can break over sand. You’ll find both left and right waves here, which makes it a bit versatile for surfers. The optimal swell direction is from the NorthWest, but it can also work with swells coming from the West and North. For the best experience, aim for conditions with an east wind. Although the wave action can be solid, the spot is more suited for intermediate surfers due to its often unpredictable nature.
In the summer, smaller swells can leave Les Cul Nuls a bit flat, which is why the consistency rating sits around a 6. It can get crowded, but the limited roadside parking makes it tough for everyone to access. The walk to the beach includes some long, slatted paths which might deter those looking for a quick surf session. Despite its quirks, Les Cul Nuls can surprise you when the conditions line up, offering some decent barrels, especially when it was part of the Quik Pro back in 2010.
