Lido di Ostia surf guide

Lido di Ostia, located just outside of Rome, is the go-to surf spot for those looking to catch some waves without traveling too far from the city. It's a long sandy beach that has several spots where surfers can set up. The beach does get quite crowded, especially during the summer months, so be prepared to share the waves with other surfers and beachgoers alike.

The surf here works best with small swells coming from the SouthWest (SW) and can also handle some from the NorthWest (NW). Generally, the waves are around 2ft (about 0.6 meters), making it an acceptable spot for beginners. The beach breaks over sand, providing left and right waves depending on the spot you choose. For the best conditions, look for a NE wind and it's worth checking out at low, mid, or even high tide.

Since the beach has several private sections, it's a good idea to ask for access at the nearby beach bars. While it can get a bit busy, it’s still a fun spot to enjoy a surf when the conditions are right.
