Løkken surf guide

Løkken is a surf spot located in Northern Jylland, known for its relaxed vibe and connection to the ocean. The area is a busy tourist town, so it can get some foot traffic, but the beach itself is often not too crowded. It’s important to note that the swell here isn’t as consistent as on the southwestern coast, meaning you’ll need some decent SW winds to get good waves. When the wind is on point, it can be a nice spot to ride.

This spot works best with a swell direction from the southwest (SW), but can handle some swell from the northwest (NW) as well. It can handle smaller swells around 1 foot (0.3 meters), which makes it suitable for beginners looking to improve their skills. The waves tend to break over sand, offering both left and right rides. If you're planning to hit the waves, low to mid tide is the preferred time to go, and east winds are what you want to look for when checking conditions.

Getting to the beach is pretty straightforward, especially in the summer when you can take beach access streets north of town since the center gets pedestrianized. Just keep in mind that waves can be a bit sloppy and onshore at times, so check the conditions before you head out. Enjoy your time at Løkken!
