The clutch of beaches here are usually low quality straighthanders but there is a decent reef at the southern end below Cliff Rd that gets good on those rare days of pumping NE swell with SW wind.
Long Bay is located in the suburb of Torbay, north of Devonport on Aucklands north shore, east coast. From Auckland, head north on Auckland Northern Motorway, State Highway 1, over the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Take exit 410, then turn right onto Oteha Valley Road. Continue onto Carlisle Road, then turn left onto Beach Road. Turn right onto Rewi Street, then find a park on Cliff Road and the reef is right out in front.
