More about Long Reef surfspot

The north end of Long Reef is graced by a range of different bombora reefs that handle swells up to as big as it gets. “Longie Bombie” will focus S swell and be almost dead offshore in the common NE wind. Peaks up and occasionally barrels at low tide, the lip can have some power but the waves can often fatten up and meander, depending on swell size, so it is often the realm of longboarders and SUP'ers, plus the wind crew who dominate the outer bombies, including the German Bank, which breaks a good mile out to sea. Hard line-up to suss and at least one set will catch you out. Down in front of the lagoon can have good banks, especially if it has been opened, then half way to Dee Why is known as No Mans Land, but this is no longer the case. Delivers some great shape among the rips and the high tide shories here can be real good. Any E swell up to headhigh plus, any N quadrant wind and any tide.

The long walk from Longy or Dee Why carpark is meant to cut the crowd but it doesn't.
