Maasvlakte Containers is a popular surf spot located at parking 4, known for its more forgiving waves. This spot is a decent choice, especially on busier days, thanks to its broad beach where you can find various peaks along the entire stretch. There are three colored access points marked with yellow, blue, and red poles, plus ample parking space. Generally, the northern red access point is where you'll find the best waves. The vibe in the water is chill, and the locals are friendly.
The surf at Containers handles swell sizes starting from about 1 ft (0.3 meters), with optimal swell direction coming from the Northwest. You'll find waves breaking over sand, which is good news if you're a beginner. The waves come in both left and right directions, offering some variety. For the best surfing experience, the conditions are preferable with Northeast winds and during mid to high tide. This setup makes it easier for less experienced surfers to get into the water without feeling overwhelmed.
During the summer, there's a lifeguard station at the yellow access point, providing some added safety while you're out enjoying the waves. The area, previously marked with containers during construction, still carries that name, but sets a pleasant environment for a day of surfing.
