Maasvlakte P6 is located at the northern end of the new beach area created by the expansion of the port of Rotterdam. Known as Bel’s, it's a popular spot among local surfers. This area emerged as a replacement for the old surf spots that were buried by construction. Overall, the vibe here is pretty laid-back, and you'll find friendly locals sharing the waves.
The surf at P6 can be quite good, especially when the swell is coming from the north. It can handle swell sizes starting at 1 foot (about 0.3 meters) and typically offers waves that break over sand. You'll find both left and right waves, which is nice for variety. The best conditions usually happen at mid to high tide, and for the best experience, a southeast wind is preferred, although the spot can be pretty exposed to wind in general. This spot is best suited for intermediate surfers who are comfortable with the often powerful waves that come from the deeper shipping lane.
Parking is available, but it's limited near the surf breaks like Bel’s and In Between’s. Just a heads up, overnight camping is not allowed here, so keep that in mind to avoid any fines. While the waves can get quite powerful, the atmosphere in the water remains mellow, making it a nice spot to surf without feeling rushed.
