Magnet Bay surf guide

Surf: The small scenic cove of Magnet Bay has been surfed since the early 60’s by the Midshore Boardriders club. While the lefts don’t really wrap, the walls can be pretty juicy and length of ride can be good. Handles more tide when bigger and any N wind. Directions: From Christchurch Drive out through Halswell on Christchurch Akaroa Road highway 75, through Tai Tapu, past Birdlings Flat to Little River. Just as your entering Little River take the right hand turn off on Wairewa Pa Road, signed posted to southern bays, then take the first right on to Kinloch Road. The road will wind up the hill. At the summit the road will change to gravel, here turn right on to Bossu Road, then take the first left on to Te Oka Bay Road. When you get to the first farmers house turn right on to Magnet Bay Road, it should be sign posted. At the end of the road, park on the grass opposite the farmers and theres a 2min walk across the paddock to the beach. Environment: Gets a crowd on it sometimes and it's not a long walk in. There are 2 sheltered beaches to the east at Tumbledown Bay and Te Oka Bay for mals and beginners, who shouldn't take on the boulders and bull kelp of Magnet.
