More about Mahia Reef surfspot

Around the front of the Mokotahi cliffs is Mahia Reef, which offers slopey lefts on major S swells with pushing tides. Good for improvers and longboarders as it shoulders quite predictably.

From Napier, head north on Pandora Road State Highway 2, onto Meeanee Quay and Main North Road out of the city. Continue on State Highway 2 through Wairoa, then at Nuhaka go straight through the roundabout onto Nuhaka Opoutama Road. Continue along Nuhaka Opoutama Road, turn right onto Ormond Drive. WHen you get to Mahia beach, turn right onto Moana Drive, then right onto Newcastle Street. Head to the point at the southern end of the beach. Park just before the point and from here its a short walk out to the end of the point.

Inconsistent and uncrowded because the other points will be firing in the same conditions.
