Majanicho surf guide

Majanicho is a small surf spot located in a natural harbour protected by reef-lined headlands. This growing village offers a laid-back vibe, with a long righthander peeling along the eastern edge of the channel. The wave can be fun and is popular among locals and visitors, especially on clean days. With a mix of SUPers, longboarders, and beginners, the crowd can get intense at times, particularly when the swell is on the smaller side.

The surf picks up swells mainly from the North and West, handling sizes from about 1 meter to 2.5 meters (3ft to 8ft). The right-hand waves break over uneven reef, delivering long and mellow rides that are perfect for intermediate surfers looking to practice cutbacks. On a good clean swell, especially during low tide, it can get hollow and enjoyable if you’re keen on a bit more action. The ideal wind direction is from the southwest, with all tide levels working fairly well at this spot.

There’s a long paddle out as the break occurs way outside, so be prepared for that. Parking is available at the end of the headland, making access pretty straightforward. Just keep an eye out for rip currents on bigger days, as they can be present. Overall, Majanicho can be a solid option during the winter months, especially from December to February, so grab your funboard, fish, or longboard and enjoy.
