Mangersta surf guide

Mangersta is a small sandy beach located on the southern coast, exposed to any west swell and wind. It can often feel pretty wild, especially when the waves get cranking. The area is less crowded, so you might have the waves to yourself, but don't expect it to be pristine all the time. Getting there involves a bit of a hike along a rough track from the southern side.

The surf at Mangersta works best with a southwest swell, although it can also handle northwest swells. It accommodates swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and can get up to head high on occasion. You'll find waves breaking over sand, and they can offer both left and right rides. The beach tends to be pretty choppy and can turn into a bit of a cauldron with whitewash and rips, especially on the right side of the bay. The best time to surf is around mid tide, but it can also work during low or high tide. This spot is more suited for intermediate surfers due to its sometimes tricky conditions.

When it comes to wind, east is the direction you want for the best conditions. Be aware that the surf can get messy and hard to navigate with rips, so it’s good to stay aware of your surroundings. Don’t expect anything too pristine here; it’s a bit rough around the edges but has its own charm.
