Manresa State Beach surf guide

Manresa State Beach is a popular surf spot located along the California coast. It features a broad section of beach that attracts surfers looking for a convenient place to catch some waves. The beach is easy to access, with a parking lot near the entrance, making it a go-to choice when other nearby spots are flat. The overall vibe is casual, and it’s a great place for surfers to hang out and enjoy the ocean.

The surf here mainly breaks over sand and can deliver some decent waves, particularly when the swell is coming from the southwest. The beach breaks provide both left and right waves, appealing to surfers with intermediate skills. You can expect the surf to handle sizes starting at 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and can get fun to challenging when it’s overhead. Ideal conditions usually arise during low to mid or even high tide. A peaky, broken-up swell with very little wind, mostly from the northeast, will give you the best experience at this spot. There’s also some current and shorepound action to keep you on your toes.

Keep in mind that the beach can close out with bigger swells, so it’s good to check the conditions regularly. It's a versatile spot with plenty of opportunities for a fun surf session, especially when the usual spots in Santa Cruz aren't looking too good. Remember to take advantage of the available facilities, as they make for a comfortable visit.
