The innermost of the 3 Raglan points starts with a hollow barrel section over the Ledge before bending into a walling section which can race for 300m or more past the boat ramp.Jumping from the rocks past the take-off spot requires good timing. Further west the Boneyards section may provide a relatively less crowded alternative.
From Hamilton head west on Whatawhata Road State Highway 23, all the way to Raglan. In Raglan you will enter on Main Road, which then turns into Bow Street. Continue to the first roundabout and turn left onto Bankart Street, then turn left at the next roundabout onto Wainui Road. Wainui Road will take you all the way to Manu Bay, Turn right into the Manu Bay Reserve and find a park. You can see the surf from up in the reserve.
Strong rips on big days run north towards the harbour. It's always the most crowded of the points as the access and parking are the easiest. The locals are renowned for dropping in and snaking so be ready to swing when someone falls to up your wave count. Don't freecamp the car park unless you want a ticket.
