Mariakerke surf guide

Mariakerke is a small beach town that’s known for a surf spot called ‘Ollie’s Point’. This area has a laid-back vibe and gets its fair share of surfers looking for some fun waves. It's not the most crowded spot around, but it can still get busy, especially when conditions are right. The beach features standard beach breaks that usually come alive after a big north storm when the wind calms down.

The waves here can handle swell sizes starting from around 1ft (0.3 meters) and work best with a North swell direction, but you might also catch some good ones if the swell comes from the Northwest or Northeast. The breaks over sand, and you can ride both lefts and rights, which is great for surfers at various skill levels. It’s a good spot for beginners since it’s pretty forgiving, especially at mid to high tides with a preferred southeast wind. Just keep an eye on the rips; they can be a little tricky at times.

While Ollie’s Point is a highlight, there are plenty of other similar waves up and down the beach that might suit your preference better on certain days. Don't hesitate to explore; you might find a hidden gem nearby that’s less crowded and just as fun.
